Alice Springs is located in the heart of Australia, in a fairly isolated spot. Much of Alice Springs is easy to reach on foot, with the Central Business District (CBD) being within walking distance of the train station, which stands on the western side of the town, bordered by a number of major roads, including Stott Terrace, Stuart Highway, Todd Mall and Undoolya Road.

A cluster of accommodation in Alice Springs is based around Gregory Terrace, in the town centre, together with tourism bureaus, shops and places to eat. Further hotels can be found on the south part of Stuart Highway and around Telegraph Terrace.

To the west of central Alice Springs you will find the popular Desert Park, while on the northern side of town, the well-known landmark on Anzac Hill dominates much of the area. Standing on the eastern side of Alice Springs, the Olive Pink Botanical Gardens is always worth a visit.
